1. The self journey
Before one can look at their community, they must look within themselves. As you began your Journey in the creative fields, your interests lead you towards your first connections. My path flows throughout the entire map. I create projects that resonate with my present truths, as I take a deep dive in, I build connections within myself to problem solve and feed my curiosity.
Riding the wave, my curiosity grows, and through that so do my use for new mediums and skills. Projects become more in depth and there are bigger stories to tell. With this in mind, I reach out to my creative circle available within each environment.
2. THE TINTEIN PLUG
Within my native creative circle, I find likeminded individuals from the same cultural background. Tintein. Muna, Aisha and I worked together on some of my first contemporary editorial shoots. They were exceptionally fun and pushed the bounds for what can be creative. This created a domino effect leading me to different paths in Photography, video, and design.
Through our collaborations and word of mouth references, I was able to work with BYNK media, 437 Swimwear, Love Closely, STRGRL, which lead me to a collaborative shoot with Trend Saavy.
3. the university hub
University is a great place to meet like minded individuals seeking new and exiting ways to express themselves. There are many connections made through classes, group projects, after school activities, etc.
2015-2019.
The Self finds a way to connect. As I worked on various projects, I was able to network and connect with my peers. Working on Genesis, my Radio drama let me reach out to find collaborators. These collaborators inspired new projects that made their way to photography. Here the path loops all around and goes vertical. A new connection. I connected with Monsune and took BTS for his music videos. With that new link I was able to go on and shoot with other musicians (Monowhales, Ren, Ana sofia, Kylo).
This path is still offering me new insights and opportunities.
Observations:
Your network is everything. As you learn to grow and explore, those around you can elevate you as your environments play key roles in your developments. Finding the likeminded individuals who want to see you succeed will play a huge role.
Leaving good impressions on your collaborators will always lead to a new path.
At the end, respect and care will always triumph .
